Septoplasty with turbinate reduction
Nasal septum is the middle partition of the nose which divides nasal cavity into two halves. Deviated septum can cause nasal obstruction, bleeding and sometimes sinusitis and headache. Septoplasty is the surgical correction of that deviation and it improves the nasal passage and obstructive symptoms and quality of life.

Septoplasty is a simple procedure which can be done either in local or general anesthesia. The surgery takes about 30-60 minutes and is often combined with other surgeries.
During the procedure and incision is made inside the nose thus there is no scar visible. This involves removal of extra cartilage and bone and sometimes replacing it back.
Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery
Sinuses are the hollow cavity in the skull. We have 4 pairs of nasal sinuses. Sinusitis is the inflammation in the sinuses. A simple nasal endoscopy can diagnose this issue and rule out other problems.
Functional endoscopic sinus surgery is the surgery of the sinuses where the opening of the sinuses is enlarged and extra cells are removed. This helps in the removing the pus and cleaning the sinuses and helps in medicine to reach the sinuses deep inside. This surgery is done with an endoscope and with microdebrider and thus there are no scar visible.
FESS is a simple procedure which can be done either in local or general anesthesia. The surgery takes about 60-90 minutes and is often combined with other surgeries.
After the surgery you will have nasal packing for 2 days, admitted for a day and nasal pack is removed in the doctor’s clinic itself. You need to be admitted for a day only in the hospital. You can resume your work in few days.
Turbinate reduction
Turbinate reduction or turbinoplasty is a procedure where the nasal turbinates present on the side wall of the nose are reduced in size. This helps increased nasal passage and thus relieves the obstruction.
Turbinates are enlarged in size due to various conditions like nasal allergy and sinusitis and they contribute to the nasal obstruction. This surgery can be done alone or along with septoplasty or FESS. This is done with a RF probe or microdebrider or with cobalator or with simple diathermy.
Nasal Polypectomy
Polyps are grapes sized pale masses arising from the sinuses. There are different types of polyps, generally these are manifestations of allergy in the nose. Most common symptom associated with polyp is nasal obstruction. Sometimes these are caused by fungal allergy as well.
Polypectomy is a surgical procedure to remove these polyps and improve breathing. This is often combined with FESS to clean the sinuses and helps in medicine to reach the sinuses deep inside. Microdebrider associated polypectomy is the latest innovation where a shaver like machine is used to cut the polyps precisely, this helps in reducing the operating time and cause less bleeding and is more accurate. There is no scar as this is done with the help of an endoscope.
