Head And Neck Surgery In India

Thyroidecomy

Thyroidectomy is a surgical procedure that removes all or part of the thyroid gland. Located at the neck of the thyroid, below the Adam’s apple, it is responsible for producing hormones that regulate metabolism. This procedure is usually performed by an otolaryngologist or a surgeon specializing in head and neck surgery.

There are many reasons why a thyroidectomy is needed. The most common cause is the presence of thyroid nodules, which are growths that form on the thyroid gland.

While most nodules are benign, some may be cancerous and a thyroidectomy is  recommended to remove the tissue.

Another cause of thyroidectomy is an enlarged thyroid gland, also known as a goiter. This can be caused by many things, including iodine deficiency, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, or Graves’  disease. Sometimes a goiter can cause difficulty breathing or swallowing, which can be  alleviated by removing part or all of the thyroid gland.

After thyroidectomy, patients may experience neck discomfort and swelling.  Most patients need at least one night in the hospital to make sure there are no complications

When leaving the hospital, the patient must take medication to replace the hormones produced by the thyroid gland.

In general, thyroidectomy is a safe and effective procedure that can help  people with a thyroid nodule or thyroid enlargement.
If you have thyroid gland symptoms, it is important to see an ENT doctor or specialist to determine the most appropriate treatment for your individual needs.

Parotidectomy

Parotidectomy is a surgical procedure that involves removing the parotid gland, the salivary gland located in front of the ear. Most procedures are performed by ear, nose,  and throat surgeons to treat a variety of conditions, including tumors or cancer.Surgery, which can be performed under general anesthesia, involves making an incision in front of the ear through which the tumor can be accessed and removed.
While the procedure is generally safe and effective, parotidectomy has some risks. Be sure to follow  directions carefully, including taking medication, avoiding certain activities, and making an appointment with your ENT doctor to monitor treatment and address your concerns.

Salivary gland stone removal

Salivary gland duct stone also known as sialolith is a fairly common condition causing the blockage of salivary gland duct. This can cause swelling and pain in the affected gland.

The removal of salivary gland duct stone involves a small incision over the duct inside the mouth and removing the stone. This is an quite effective approach with high success rate and minimal risk of complications. Patients typically resume normal activities in few days.

Overall Salivary gland duct removal surgery is done by ENT specialist Dr Rahul Bhargava to improve the quality of life for patients suffering from this.
