Dizziness And Vertigo (Neuro-Otology) Treatment In India
Intratympanic Therapy
Intratympanic therapy is a treatment where the medicine is instilled directly into the middle ear through the ear drum. This is a newer technique in which the medicines directly goes into the inner ear to treat various conditions such as sudden sensory neural hearing loss, Meniere’s disease and tinnitus. This technique helps to achieve higher drug concentration in the ear leading to improved therapeutic outcomes, moreover the systemic side effects related to the medicine are avoided. This is done under local anesthesia by the Ear doctor in the OPD itself.
Endolymphatic sac decompression
Endolymphatic sac decompression is a surgical procedure used to treat Meniere’s disease, a condition characterized by episodes of episodic vertigo, tinnitus, and fluctuating hearing loss. In Meniere’s disease there is an excess of fluid in the inner ear which leads to the symptoms.
The goal of this surgery is to relieve the pressure in the inner ear thus relieve in symptoms. This surgery is done with a small incision behind the ear and removal of bone over the endolymphatic duct.
